If you’re a parent, you know the snack struggle is real—especially when your baby is hungry right now and you want to give them something quick, healthy, and homemade. These Oats & Banana Cookies have been a go-to in my kitchen ever since Anya turned 8 months old. They’re nutritious, naturally sweet, and incredibly easy to make with just a few ingredients. Plus, they’re microwave-friendly—because some days, that’s all we’ve got time for!
🌾 Why I Love This Recipe
- Quick to make – takes less than 10 minutes
- No added sugar – naturally sweet from bananas
- Nutritious & filling – rich in fiber, good fats, and essential minerals
- Customisable – can add nuts, seeds, or ghee based on baby’s age & tolerance
🍌 Ingredients:
- 1–2 overripe bananas (the sweeter, the better)
- 4–5 tbsp oats powder (just grind rolled oats in a blender)
- A pinch of cinnamon powder
- 1–2 tsp nuts & seeds powder (optional – almonds, walnuts, flaxseeds, etc.)
- 1 tsp ghee (optional – adds healthy fats and flavor)
- A few drops of water (only if needed)
🍪 How to Make:
- Mash the bananas in a bowl until smooth.
- Add oats powder, cinnamon, nuts & seeds powder, and ghee (if using).
- Mix well to form a soft dough. If the mix feels too dry, sprinkle a little water.
- Grease a microwave-safe plate with ghee.
- Shape the mixture into small flat cookies and place them on the plate.
- Microwave for 1–2 minutes on one side, flip, and cook for another 1–2 minutes. Keep an eye to avoid overcooking.
Let them cool before serving. They firm up a bit more as they cool down.
👶 Tips:
- Start with a small portion to check for allergies (especially if adding nuts).
- Always supervise while eating.
- These are best fresh but can be stored in an airtight container for upto 3 days in room temperature and for upto a week if refrigerated( refrigerating might make cookies turn hard, reheating for 10sec will help soften them again).
